The thing that was the most difficult was converting my word document to a PDF file.  I finally figured out how to do it, but it stressed me out.  I really like this project, it made me feel like I accomplished something that was useful.  Some new things that I learned were how to make a screenshot, and to upload my PDF file as a media file.  I was trying to upload it as a image file, becuase thats what I did for the Financial Project.  It wouldnt work this time, so I used it as a media file, and then it worked.  This term I learned how to :

Create subpages and parent pages

Upload pictures and PDF files

Cite photos so that the copyright shows up under the picture

Embed links to words or images

Ideas for Teach Project

I am going to develop a lesson on how to download music to an IPod.  I use my IPod almost everyday and get a lot of use out of it.  When I first go my IPod, I did not know how to download music to it.  I had to have my brother teach me, and he got frustrated with me, that I did not know how to do it.  Some technical issues that I need to research are:

1. How to download the ITunes, which is the program that is used to put music from your computer, to your IPod.

2. How to download music to you IPod

The tools that I plan to use for the project are my computer, I Tunes, my IPod and the cord that goes with it to connect to the computer.

The biggest problem that I had with the financial project was figuring out how to convert the Microsoft Excel spread sheet into a PDF format.  After I figured out how to do it, it was fairly easy.  I also got a little stumped on how I should organize my different spread sheets.  Overall I thought that it was a fun assignment to do, and got me excited to start my dream as soon as possible.

For the Teach Project a few ideas I have are as follows:

How to make a power point movie, that has a lot of pictures and sounds for a gift for someone.  You can take pictures, put them in power point and then burn them to a DVD.

My Dream

There are so many things that I would love to do in my life time.  Here are just a few:

1. Owning my own Real Estate Business/flipping houses

2. Travel around the world

3. Buying a house

4. Go live in Florida for at least a year

I have decided that I will focus on Owning my own Real Estate business/flipping houses, since it has been my dream for a LONG time.  My research options include researching the other real estate business that are local and see if I can find out how they started their business.  I know that the housing market is not doing so well right now, so maybe see if I can find out if people in the business have any idea on how long this might last.

The first picture I tried to load became a broken link.  I am not sure what I did wrong, but the other three that I loaded worked out just fine.  I thought it was a fairly easy process to follow after the first picture did not work out.

I am thinking about doing my Financial Analysis Project on owning a Real Estate Business.  It has been a long time goal for me, and I hope to actually full fill it sometime after I graduate from college.

Week 5 update

I am having trouble finding information about other women in the field during the time that Virginia came up with the Apgar Score test.  Like many of the other students in the class I am having trouble finding 2000 words to write about.  I feel like I have covered almost all of the topics and Iam about 600 words short.  I do not know what else to write about.  I do not want it to sound like I am repeating myself.

The librarian gave me some good advice on what to research.  I already visited websites, so she told me to look at books on line through the library.  Also she said to search woman in medicine, the find out what other women are in the same kind if field as Virginia.  She also gave me some different websites to go to that she thought would have valuable information.  I found it very helpful to come in to contact with her.  I began more research and now I think I will be able to get all of the information that I need to complete the project.  I will use her as a resource in the future for other research projects in other classes!

Virginia Apgar was one of the first America women to specialize in surgery.  She graduated from Columbia University in 1933 and was on of the first female M.D.s.  She invented the newborn Scoring System which assesses the health of newborns.  It was formerly called the Apgar Score.  Virginia specialized in anesthesia and childbirth.  She also was one of the first full time Professors of Anesthesiology in 1949 at Columbia.

Virginia was born on June 7, 1909 in Westfield, New Jersey.  She died on August 7, 1974 in New York City, New York.  She was never married throughout her life.  She was dedicated and focused on her work and studies.  In 1944 she was recognized on a U.S. postal stamp.

I think it would be great to be able to interview Virginia.  I love children, and I think its amazing that she invented the Scoring System which has reduced the infant mortality rate.  It would be an experience of a life time to meet someone who has so many accomplishments and done so much with her life.
